Course Content
Lesson 1 – Intro to Course and who is Mr Whisper
An introduction to Mr Whisper, his photography and how the course works. Here Bal shares his photography journey into the world of professional street photography and his passion for capturing mesmerising stories on the streets of London.
Lesson 2 – Equipment
Being a specialist genre, street photography needs specialist equipment. You’ll look at cameras, lenses, and essential accessories to get refined, professional looking, street photography.
Lesson 3 – Camera Settings
Great street photography can be achieved in any light. From cloudy grey days to using the neon lights of the city at night. In this lesson you’ll understand the physics behind good street imagery and why it is so hard to achieve. You’ll learn specific camera settings, how to expose correctly, how to make natural day light, and night light, work for you as well as many more pro secrets to send your photography to the next level.
Lesson 4 – Planning For Street Photography
Simply grabbing a camera and walking on the streets rarely result in good photography. Good planning creates great results but how do you know where and when to go and what to shoot in each location? In this lesson Bal shares his 5-step plan to ensure you get great results, every time!
Lesson 5 – Techniques and what to look for on the street
In this lesson you’ll learn about photography techniques specific to street photography. Your taught how to use light, tell stories, show emotion, how to anticipate the moment and much more. You’re also advised on the legal and moral issues surrounding photographing on the street.
Lesson 6 – Daytime street photography 1 - Westminster and Southbank
In this lesson we head out for our first shoot on the streets of London. We have harsh light to work with and a plan to accomplish! Learn side by side with Bal and watch the plan come into fruition.
Lesson 7 – Editing daytime photography 1
When it comes to the editing process, street photography has its own techniques you need to master. Here Bal teaches how to edit street photography by sharing all his secrets on how to draw the viewers eye around your image to the focal point. You are also provided with the raw files so you can work along with the edit.
Lesson 8 – Night street photography 1 - Soho and China Town
Do not limit your street photography to just daylight! City nightlife offers a wealth of interesting imagery. In this lesson you follow along with Bal as he gives an absolute masterclass on making the best of city night lights and the interesting stories you can find at night.
Lesson 9 – Editing night photography 1
In the second of our edit lessons Bal again emphasises the fact that you need to draw a viewer’s eye to specific parts of an image and provide balance in the image’s tones and colours. As usual you are provided the raw files so you can work along with the edits.
Lesson 10 – Daytime street photography 2 - Business district
For our third shoot we head out to London’s business district on a busy working day. Again, Bal puts his 5-step plan into place and creates some truly stunning images. You follow along, side by side, and really get a feel for how this type of photography is achieved.
Lesson 11 – Editing daytime photography 2
In this edit you learn different ways to enhance your street photography. We’ll go into Lightroom and use specific masking and colour grading techniques. Again, you are provided with the raw files to assist in your learning.
Lesson 12 – Night street photography 2 - West end and Piccadilly
In our final shoot we head to London’s West End on a busy Friday night. Again this vibrant city doesn’t disappoint and Bal shows you how to find the interesting images hidden within the hustle and bustle of the city night.
Lesson 13 – Editing night photography 2
In our final edit lesson, you are taken even further into the specifics of editing night street photography. The importance of getting your exposure, white balance and colour grading is key to this type of photography.
Lesson 14 – The Business of Street photography
Now that you know how to capture great street photography, it’s time to turn your passion into a source of income. This lesson is perfect for photographers wishing to go pro and sell their images and services. Bal will go through promoting and selling your services as a professional street photographer.
Lesson 15 – End of course Recap
A sign off from Bal and a recap over everything you’ve learned on the course.

What level do I need to be at?
This course is suited for intermediate photographers and Lightroom users. It is not suited for anyone who hasn’t learnt about the basics of photography. In this case, please take a look at our Photography and Lightroom courses.
I’m not in the UK, will this course still be suitable for me?

Do I need Adobe Lightroom for this course?
It depends. If you want to follow along with the edits then the answer is yes. However, if you edit your work in a different program then you can simply use the same editing techniques in whatever program you are used to. The raw files provided will open in any editing program that supports raw editing. If you wish to buy Adobe editing software we recommend buying their ‘Photography Plan (1TB)’ which includes Photoshop CC, Lightroom Classic, and Lightroom CC for a monthly fee.
